This week I attended the
s relating to the Sizewell C project
The event brought together professionals, consultants, contractors and SME local businesses to discuss the standards, systems and processes required to support major infrastructure delivery associated with Sizewell C.
Workshops throughout the day explored topics including:
- Carbon reporting
- ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
- NEC contracts
- Cyber Essentials
- Common Assessment Standards
- Funding, finance and supply chain readiness
What stood out was the scale of coordination required across disciplines and organisations to deliver a project of this complexity. Discussions were held about governance, technical compliance and integrated working practices.
From a landscape and environmental perspective, large infrastructure projects increasingly require multidisciplinary approaches that balance operational requirements with environmental resilience, landscape sensitivity, biodiversity considerations and community impact.
Events such as these are valuable not only for understanding project processes and procurement expectations, but also for general insight into where the construction industry is headed regionally across Suffolk and the wider East of England.
