CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

ENVIRONMENT
Heathland Studio has attended specialist professional events including Reducing Landscape Carbon, delivered by the Landscape Institute & The State of Natural Capital in England (2024), presented by Natural England.

These sessions informed current understanding of landscape-led approaches to carbon reduction, natural capital assessment & the role of landscape planning & design in supporting climate resilience, biodiversity enhancement & long-term environmental value within development & land management projects.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES
We have a strong grounding in landscape design, underpinned by detailed knowledge of national & international guidance.
This includes Department for Education (DfE) design guidance, Human-Conscious Design Principles, Designing Nature-Positive Landscapes & Sustainable Inclusion in Public Areas

Together, these inform an approach to design that is environmentally responsible, socially inclusive & responsive to human wellbeing.
Our work integrates nature-positive thinking, inclusive access & long-term sustainability into landscape strategies that are practical, policy-aware & appropriate for planning & delivery.

TECHNICAL
Our technical experience spans more than two decades & is supported by ongoing professional development, including recent Landscape Institute talks such as Changing Urban Tree Planting Perceptions & Methods & UK Plant Species Selection & Specifications.
This continuing engagement informs robust, practical approaches to planting design, species selection & specification, ensuring proposals are resilient, appropriate to context & aligned with current best practice.
